Black Moutain Stables is the result of a dream that
my wife, Betty, had about her retirement from her job in Ohio. We moved to Coker Creek, Tn. in June 2002 and began the process
of what she hoped would be fun for our guest as well as for ourselves. We arrived with four mares, a motorhome, a tractor
and a nervous stomach.
The main barn was hollow when we arrived. Each stall was built as more horses were added
to our family. It now has three birthing stalls, one stud stall, and nine standard stalls. There are four stalls in another
barn that were put in by the previous owner.
It is our intention to provide a little joy in your life by taking you
on trail rides on our property or just allowing you to come over and see our horses. They love the attention. We have a covered
arena for pony rides. At present, we are also developing a rustic Horsemans Camp on another section of our property so you
can bring your own horses, use us as a base camp, and ride the mountains that surround our home in the Cherokee National Forest.
We do offer overnite camp trips to the local waterfalls. This is by reservation only. All other riders can call ahead to
verify a time for rides.
We have a beautiful selection of horses. Many are for sale to interested parties.
Come join us. And bring your camera!
